Exciting Recommendations For Sliding Closet Doors

The reason why you find sliding closet doors in nearly any apartment or home is because these designs save a ton of space.  This causes the room to not only appear larger, but also means you don’t have to move the furniture around the room as much as the closet can become completely concealed. If you are thinking this might be costly you are wrong, all the parts like the tracks for examples are commonly available in any hardware store.

Although they seem like the perfect option to hide your wardrobe, there are some people who don't care for them since you can't view the entire closet at one time - perhaps a wardrobe sliding door is an option for them.  Fortunately, this obstacle is easily remedied by installing a pocket in the wall so the door slides on a track to be hidden away thus opening up a view of the entire closet. At the end of the day it all comes down to your individual tastes and how you want your bedroom to not only appear, but function.

Sliding Bypass Doors?

Some of you might have heard this term used when referring to sliding closet doors and perhaps wondered what it actually meant. Quite simply it means that the doors can slide pass each other and are on separate tracks. The larger department stores like home depot have a range of series which are worth considering if this is of interest.

Modern Doors

If you are brave and neat enough and have a contemporary décor, you may want to consider installing glass doors in your bedroom.  Although these give your closet less privacy, they are very modern and sleek.  Not quite confident in how tidy your closet can remain at all times?  No problem, there are even tinted varieties in striking colors like black or purple – also more opaque variations which are closer to a clear colour.  Alternatively, you could also install a Shoji behind the glass panel for an elegant Asian vibe. These screens are becoming ever so popular and really can transform the room.

Bold and Unique Doors

Simple, plain, traditional doors are not for everyone and there is no rule that says your closet door has to look like a door.  Why not get a little artistic with them?  You could paint louvered varieties different colors or on a solid door you could even complete a mural if you have that creative talent so few of us do !  If you're not quite that artistic, an art projector can help you out.  Of course, you don't have to go overboard, even a few geometric shapes make a statement.  Also, you may want to take a trip to your local craft store and buy stencils, sponges or stamps in nearly any theme, pattern and size to decorate with.

Live in a loft?  Why not spray paint a little graffiti on your doors or install giant dry erase boards on them?  Have fun, these are your closets and it is entirely up to your imagination at the end of the day.

Mirrored Doors

What could be better than a giant mirror on a roller? Now I have to let you in on every realtor’s secret to maximising space in bedrooms. Not only are these practical for helping you get dressed and out the door, they make your room look twice as big due to the reflection.  If you want something a little more creative than a simple mirror, you can spray a bit of privacy film on them for a muted, foggy look.  If you really want some spectacular sliding closet doors, take a stencil to the privacy film and etch in a design. If you are concerned about the design then perhaps call up a local art school and see if a student is willing to do it for you for a nominal fee perhaps?

Some people even enjoy the look of a very sheer curtain hanging in front of them so you still get a reflection but it's sort of mysterious and distant.

At the end of the day when you consider how much time you actually spend in your bedroom, it is well worth considering all options in terms of not only maximising space but also transforming it artistically. If you own your own home or flat and are considering renting or selling, you would be surprised with how inexpensive some minor changes are and the resulting improvements. Sliding closet doors are just one of the many simple changes well worth considering.

If you are thinking storage spaces then why not consider using a sliding cabinet door to keep your bits and bobs neat and tidy. they are so much more functional and space saving than your normal hinged option.

Finally as mentioned earlier in the article if you are looking for ideas and designs then home depot is a great resource to get some ideas.

The steel closet doors that are in my room right now just aren't cutting it, and now I know why. I'm actually glad that the track broke because now I can look at something entirely different. It seems like a world of opportunities has suddenly opened up to me and my house.

There are so many different kinds of panel now that I had no idea about. I am glad that I did some looking before we ran out and got the same old boring designs for sliding doors. This small thing will give our rooms a fresh new look without much change.

Installing wardrobe doors sounded like it would be a pain, but at least now I know that I have plenty of options to choose from. My initial reaction when my husband said we should do this was that they would be the same old boring thing we have always had.

I've always been interested in different designs and styles, but yet the technical part like how the roller works is not lost on me. I love how they have been able to make so many different kinds even though they work about the same way. I bet a pocket closet door is easier to put in than it sounds.

The big question right now as we are looking at installing new doors for the wardrobe is whether we should go with wood or steel. I tend to be a bit old fashioned, but my wife prefers the new sleek look. At least it sounds like we can come up with a compromise.

My wife is not very technically minded, so when I tried to explain how a roller and track work together, she was totally lost, but at least now I can shower her how many different styles of sliding wardrobe doors there are. At least she can be interested now in the whole process.

Installing some doors does not sound like a whole lot of fun, but picking out the best kind certainly does! The question now is what kind of panel we want. I can't believe how many options there are now besides the boring old wooden style that has been around forever.

Selecting Bifold Closet Doors For Your Home

By Simon Harris
My husband and I recently purchased a very run down, Victorian style house. It's previous owners had altered the internal design of the house, several times over. The ceilings were brought down to a height of 8 feet as opposed to 12 feet and much of the hardwood in the floors and trim was badly beaten.
